Creating a Bucket List for Your Pet: Making the Most of the Time You Have Left Together

When your beloved pet is given a terminal diagnosis, or when you know that goodbye is coming soon, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed or helpless.

Grief begins long before they leave us. It can start with a diagnosis, a shift in routine, or a quiet moment when they no longer do something they used to love.

One way to gently shift the focus from fear to love is by creating a bucket list. It’s a simple, beautiful way celebrate your pet’s life while they’re still here.

A pet bucket list isn’t about grand adventures or dramatic gestures, unless that’s something your pet would truly love in their condition right now. It’s more about the little things that make their eyes light up or settle comfortably with a soft sigh.

A very special food. Visiting the beach they used to tear up and down. A family BBQ where everyone plays with and loves your pet. A car ride with a detour through the drivethrough.

It’s about being intentional with the moments that matter, and creating memories that feel just right for you and your pet.

At Comfy Critters, we’ve created two versions of our Pet Bucket List to support you through this part of the journey.

No two bucket lists will look the same, and that’s exactly how it should be.

This is about honouring your bond, your routines, your pet’s quirks and comforts.

It’s about love, in whatever way it looks for you.
