What sets Comfy Critters Home Vet apart from other vets?

At Comfy Critters, we specialise in in-home care for senior pets - especially when comfort, clarity and end-of-life decisions become the priority.

As a mobile vet team, we can offer something clinics can’t: time, calm, and a window into the real life at home. This lets us provide truly personalised support that meets pets and families where they are: both physically and emotionally.

We work alongside local clinics to complement the care they already provide. But we also walk with families through this stage, so they’re never alone in facing what comes next.

Senior Pet Care

We take a special interest in improving the comfort and wellbeing of older pets. Through regular in-home care and proactive support, we aim to maximise the quality, not just the length, of the time you have left together.

Long appointments

We practise “slow medicine” - thoughtful, unhurried care that allows space for honest conversations, complex emotions, and all your questions. There’s no rush and no pressure. Just time, understanding, and support.

Gentle, low-stress handling

We use a fear-free, pet-led approach to reduce anxiety and build trust. By meeting your pet on their terms, in their own space, we help create calm, reassuring visits that are especially important for frail or anxious animals. It's also much more comfortable for you, without the stress of car rides, noisy waiting rooms, or rushed appointments.

Personalised health plans

As things begin to change, we’ll create a care plan that’s tailored to your pet and guided by what matters most to you. Together, we’ll talk through how things might unfold, what comfort looks like, and where you feel the line should be if their condition starts to shift. These plans help us prepare ahead of time, so that decisions later on feel clearer and a little less heavy. You won’t have to figure it out on your own. We’ll be beside you through it all.

Holistic Care

We assess the whole animal in their home environment, taking into account not just medical needs but also behavioural changes, nutrition, mobility, and environmental stressors. This allows us to create truly individualised care plans that meet your pet where they are.

Education about your pet

We help you understand your pet’s condition, how it progresses, and what signs to look out for as things change. We take the time to talk through treatment options, expected outcomes, and what to expect in the days, weeks and months ahead. Our goal is to help you feel informed, prepared and confident in making decisions that align with your pet’s needs and your family’s values.

Palliation and hospice

There comes a time when the goal is no longer to cure, but to care. Choosing comfort and quality of life is a deeply personal and compassionate decision. For some families, this choice is made even when further treatment is available, because they know their pet best. They understand that the kindest path may be one focused on comfort, connection, and peace. We provide supportive care for pets living with chronic conditions, terminal illness, or age-related decline, helping them feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for in the time they have left.

Working with local vet clinics

We work closely with your regular vet to provide seamless care. Local clinics handle diagnostics and hospital treatments, while we support families at home with comfort care, guidance, and end-of-life planning. Our role is to complement your vet’s care, not replace it, so your pet receives the right support in every setting.

If this sounds like the kind of care you’ve been looking for, we’d love to support you and your pet.

  • Bachelor of Science (Ecology/Zoology) (BSc)
  • Graduate Diploma in Science Communication (GDSciComm)
  • Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) (GDEdn(Sec))
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)

Dr Allie’s path to veterinary medicine has been anything but ordinary — and that’s exactly what makes her care so thoughtful and grounded. Before becoming a vet, Allie worked as a high school science teacher, an education ranger with Queensland National Parks, and a travelling science communicator. Her curiosity and love of learning have always shaped how she connects with people and animals alike.

After working in general practice, mobile vet services, and emergency clinics, Allie founded Comfy Critters Home Vet with a clear focus: to support senior pets and their families through the later stages of life with compassion, clarity, and comfort.

Today, her practice is dedicated to:

  • Providing palliative and hospice care that keeps pets comfortable at home

  • Offering gentle, in-home euthanasia in familiar and peaceful surroundings

  • Supporting families emotionally and practically through each step of this journey

Dr Allie believes that ageing and end-of-life care should be calm, connected, and deeply respectful. She takes the time to listen, guide, and walk alongside you — helping your pet live and leave, surrounded by love.
